Wooden Pegasus Thing

I spent a couple months on this... Printed, Framed, and gave it to my mother for Christmas 2017.
As she opened it, she said something something along the lines of "Well, it's interesting" or "Well, it's different."
I was hoping she would like it, but I knew very well that it's not what she had pictured. My guess is, people don't want pictures of wooden horses... A couple months later in March, she said something like "Why don't you practice making animals?" I knew exactly what she meant by that. I don't know if I'll make one for 2018, I don't feel capable. If I was more creative, this might have worked. but I've never been good at creativity, especially when I'm working in 3D software with far less limitations that I have ever experienced. How d I know what to do, when I don't know what I can't do?
